Gaping Before the Heart of Blackness Again

Mary Mitchell.

In a previous blog entry, I described the heart of blackness, as exemplified by Michelle Obama, as the tendency to conflate moral good and personal interest. Simply put: the typical black person views whatever benefits him as the moral good and whatever holds him back as the product of an evil plot designed by white people. This narcissism never fails to shock me, though I should have grown used to it by now. Today, reading the words of black columnist Mary Mitchell in the Chicago Sun-Times, I again found myself gaping before the heart of blackness.

Yesterday, when Barack Obama finally repudiated Jeremiah Wright, was, in Mitchell’s opinion, “a sad day for black America.”

Why?

At a time when African Americans are on the cusp of watching a barrier come crashing down, up jumps a divisive issue that is being driven by those outside of the black community…

There is no institution in the black community more respected than the black church. And the notion that white pundits can dictate what constitutes unacceptable speech in the black church is repulsive to most black people.

Think of what the words imply. I’ve read a few of Mitchell’s columns, and I’ve seen no sign that she believes Wright’s theories about AIDS and such, so let’s give her the benefit of the doubt and posit that she understands that much of what Wright said simply wasn’t true. If that’s the case, Mitchell is saying is that only whites could possibly be moved to anger by the preaching of malicious falsehoods. Respect for the truth is a white invention designed to keep black people down.

By stating the completely obvious, that Wright’s preachings are “ridiculous,” “outrageous” and “appalling,” Barack has sold out:

So, when Obama says America was “offended” by Wright’s harsh language, he isn’t speaking for or to Black America. He is speaking to White America… With the gap narrowing, Obama advisers are obviously scrambling for every white vote.

Wright, of course, is a “warrior” who has been put through an “ordeal” and has been “denigrated” by Obama.

All Mitchell sees is a humiliation of a black leader, which reflects negatively on her race. And that is simply evil. She never pauses to ask whether the humiliation was justified or not. It’s as though the idea that there are standards to which everyone is morally obligated to conform simply doesn’t occur to Mitchell.

I don’t regard views like this as unintelligent, malicious, or mendacious. Rather, I regard them as insane and alien. That a black woman employed to write for a major newspaper cannot distinguish between personal interest and the moral good reinforces my conviction that there is a gulf between the white and black races that can never be transcended.

Ian Jobling, You state that ‘their narcissism never ceases to shock me’, well actually there is a thorough medical diagnosis for the behavior and mentality that you so deplore that fits the bill precisely - it’s called ‘psychopathy’, and the distinguishing feature is self interest promoted to the highest degree, to the extent that anybody or anyhthing else is just seen as an obstacle or stepping-stone (as the case may be) towards that self-interest. Just think about it. Think about the murders committed for the sake of a few dollars. Think about ‘CIA agents’ injecting blacks with AIDS. Think about the lies, deceit and embezzlement of black officials. etc etc

The common theme here is that ‘I’ am the only one who matters, the fact that ‘other humans’ might possibly be endowed with sentience and might possibly be harmed as a result of ‘self-indulgence’ simply does not register. It really is as low and simple as that - a most probably is a race specific genetic defect. See the excellent ‘Race and psychopathic Personality’ by Richard Lynn in the Amren archives.

Dr. Jobling,

I essentially agree with you about the black “tendency to conflate moral good and personal interest.” I suspect that this tendency is not uniquely black; rather, the tendency to seek moral good independent of personal interest is uniquely white. Again and again, whites are not so much offended as bewildered when they see nonwhites blithely ignoring objectivity and fairness when promoting their own interests.

Also, we must remember that white elites have actively been encouraging this “black tendency” for decades. They have taught blacks that there is nothing that cows, intimidates, and shames whites more effectively an accusation of unfairness and racism, especially when voiced on behalf of a black victim.

Small wonder, then, that Mitchell has seized an opportunity to decry the “humiliation” of a “black leader.” Like other perceptive blacks, she has learned that the specter of a white “humiliating” a black is enough to make thousands of whites reach for their checkbooks and write a check to one black cause or another, and thousands more to hang their heads in shame, and to promise to sin no more. She has learned the lesson that whites have taught her exceedingly well.
