Realist, I have a question…are you David Duke? I have read Dr. Dukes book “ My Awakening” and it seems you and he are of one accord.

I just looked up Duke’s explanation of black-white racial differences in My Awakening and found that he indeed also believes in the Ice Age theory. I hadn’t known this—I’ve never read the book.

When two people with very different outlooks on the world arrive independently at the same conclusion, it means it’s probably true, right?

I, too, believe the Ice Age theory. So far it is the best explanation of why whites vs our hot weather counterparts have a higher mean IQ, tighter knit family structures, and by extension, more advanced cohesive societies.

Just a question. Does anyone who advocates this theory have an explanation for why native Americans (Eskimos especially), Inuits, Lapps, Native Siberians, etc. have lower IQs than Europeans and northeast Asians?

Lynn does give a plausible explanation for this in Race Differences in Intelligence (pp. 237-38). All of the Arctic groups you mention were very small, and thus there was not much opportunity for mutations leading to higher intelligence to occur among them. There are only 56,000 Arctic peoples in Russia and North America vs. 1.4 billion East Asians.

No discussion of racial differences is complete without mentioning the possibility of interbreeding with pre-modern humans, including Neanderthals in Europe. Even tiny amounts of interbreeding could lead to significant changes if the genes acquired as a result were advantageous.

And of course, people in other parts of the world may have melded with other pre-moderns. The Greek blogger Dienekes is fond of the theory that Africans are largely descended from a mixture of modern humans and what he calls “PaleoAfricans.”

Though how he reconciles this theory with his dogmatic insistence that there CAN NOT BE ANY innate difference in intelligence between the races is a mystery to me.

I was under the impression that Native Americans had comparable mean IQs to whites, at least in the United States, despite living in relatively wretched conditions.

Though one wonders about Mexicans. They are half-Spanish, after all, and their mean IQ seems to hover around 90. Certainly the Mayans and Aztecs had mean IQs higher than 80. Perhaps those who survived the destruction of MesoAmerican civilization were disproprotionatly members of the lower classes/castes, who would have had the least contact with the Spanish invaders and the diseases that accompanied them, but also a paucity of IQ-boosting genes. Or maybe this is an instance where something in the environment really is keeping them from reaching their genetic potential.

Not at all, WhiteDevil. Contrary to popular opinion, whites never enjoyed freezing climates so they were forced to innovate and conquer the elements in order to survive. The accumulation of innovations and inventions have led us to the comfortable lifestyle we now experience. But just as Realist alludes to in his article, we are living a paradox: the more technically advanced and secular we become, the greater the propensity for whites to regress back to the African ethos of hedonism.

The article is speculative, but there is a lot of preliminary evidence coming out to support the idea of gene introgression from various archaic hominid populations. The GNXP article was just one early discussion of the possibility.

Also, I wasn’t saying that it is an established fact, which it isn’t by any means, just that a frank discussion of racial differences ought to mention the possibility as something that future research may either confirm or refute.

While it is true that the Eskimos have a lower overall IQ, they do score 6 points above Englishmen in Raven’s matrices. Jensen discusses this briefly in his book STRAIGHT TALK ABOUT MENTAL TESTS (1981).

Seriously, TWN, East Asians regularly outscore whites on all sorts of tests. The gap isn’t huge, nothing like the gap between whites and blacks, but it’s consistent and it’s there.

East Asians’ IQs hover closer to the mean. Whites, especially white males, range from retarded to genius. Asian populations are less dynamic; they produce both fewer retards and fewer genuises. Nonetheless, the average IQ of their nations is higher that some of the “white” nations. (not all whites are equal to one another)

I agree the cold climates are harder in certain ways, but:

So it seems that idea that it was always hard to get food in Ice-Age Europe is speculative.

The !Kung get a lot of their calories from mongongo nuts; but do we know that paleo-Europeans didn’t eat some kind of tree nut or other plant food? Is fruit abundant in the tropical forest? I think most of the fruit is up in the canopy where humans can’t reach.

“Hunting requires creating tools and understanding of the behavior of animals, both of which are spurs to the evolution of intelligence.” The problem with this is, as stated above, that all of the known hunter-gatherers hunt all of the time, and create complex tools for hunting. They would all have the same selective pressure. This is true of the Amazonian Indians, for instance, who have devised complex poisons (curare, etc) for hunting; they also use plants for medicine, shamanism, etc. We could argue that, living in a much more complex plant environment, the more intelligent would have an advantage, since they could utilize the plants more effectively. The !Kung also use poison arrows. Also, consider the Australian aborigines, very low on the IQ scale, yet they live in a very harsh environment where living is not easy. I have read that the natural diet of these people is mostly animal food. And they have been in Australia for tens of thousands of years.

Basically, IQ only measures a persons level of mental acuity. But, surely you will agree a dull person cannot accomplish what a gifted person can? I think its safe to say that you won’t find any scientists at NASSAU that score on the left side of the bell curve. That said, IQ is not the be all end all, it is the ‘essential combination’ of high IQ, exceptional creativity, and a insatiable desire to ‘accomplish’ that sets the GREAT inventors, philosophers, artists, and scientists…apart from the ordinary.

My question is: Does creativity have a genetic basis? Is it wired into the DNA? Do environmental pressures (such as cold climate) cause a micoevolution evaluational process that awaken/stimulate dormant genes in whites that may not have activated if they remained in warm climates?

Do you have any studies to back that up? I’ve heard that from white people before, but I’ve also heard that it’s a myth, that the variance among East Asians is no different from that of whites. Yet I’ve never seen any studies which indicate that either is the case.

It is true that exceptional creativity and a strong desire to make great breakthrough sets great geniuses apart from common people. But I don’t HIGH IQ is also a necessity. Richard Phillips Feynman never scored more than low 120s in an IQ test, even though he was a great genius. Same was the case for Albert Einstein, Paul Dirac and Nicolas Tesla. Who would argue these men were not gifted. In fact, most Nobel laureates never fared well on IQ tests. And this is the REASON I QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF IQ TESTS. “Capacity to act purposefully, thinking rationally and deal effectively with the environment.” David Wechsler

This is the definition of intelligence quotient by the man who created the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. So, IQ tests actually measure ability to deal effectively with life, not intelligence or intellectual capacity as most people tend to think.

All I was trying to point out, is IQ is a significant factor that determines the level of accomplishment a person can reasonably achieve. The truth is an IQ in the low 120’s puts a person in the bright category. An IQ of say 123, plus a vivid-creative imagination and a passion to create or invent is ‘a’ recipe for greatness. Conversely; if a person has an IQ of 165, but all they want to do is sit on the couch and watch TV, s/he will accomplish no more than the bum on the street. But let’s face it, a person that has an IQ on the left side of the bell curve - no matter how motivated - isn’t going to go very far in the hard sciences fields.

As for the rest of your criticisms, there I’m on stronger ground. The part about living conditions in the Ice Age is a summary of the cited passage from Lynn’s Race Differences in Intelligence, and he bases his account on scholarly sources. You should consult Lynn’s book and his sources for answers to your questions. All I can say is that Lynn seems to me a careful and conscientious scholar, so I trust what he says.

If this is the case about Mr. Jefferies, you sir have been correct about as often as a blade-less sundial. It would be very difficult to argue that in the history of the world upon meetings of different groups;

Whites have killed many times more blacks than vice-versa.

In the year 2005, there were 516 whites murdered by blacks. Conversely there were 230 blacks murdered by whites.

Since whites are 70% of the population, blacks are only 13%. I did some simple arithmetic and calculated blacks are over 12 times more likely to murder whites than vice verse. Also going by the numbers: blacks murdered a total of 3569 victims, and whites murdered a total of 3445. The simple math calculates out to, blacks are overall, 5.4 times more likely to commit murder than whites.

Again, keep in mind this is murder in the category of [single victim/single murder] if we included all types of murder(multiple murder etc) in the equation, I’m quite certain the ratios would increase further for blacks. Also, we must not forget Hispanics and middle-easterners are lumped into the white category further skewing the numbers in an upward direction for whites.

What can learn from the numbers is that the murder rate for whites in this country is contemptible, but the murder rate for blacks is abominable!

It should be noted, that according to this same referenced work, that not all lynchings resulted in death. I do not know what the break-out is for deaths, but, suffice it to say that not all 3,437 blacks who suffered a lynching were killed.

As far as to claims that lynching victims were usually innocent, again from the referenced work, we find: “A special study by Arthur Raper of nearly one hundred lynchings convinced him that approximately one-third of the victims were falsely accused.”

Which, of course, means that 2/3rds were not innocent.

Now, I’m not suggesting that all of the 7,514 “uncategorized” murders were committed by blacks, but, if the same trend were true, then approximately 528 of them would be white victims of black murderers.

Yes, this is supposition, but with better information, let’s proceed with that a total of 1,044 white where killed by blacks in 2005. If this is typical of other years, then we can estimate that approximately 3,132 over three years – just shy of the total of 3,437 blacks lynched between 1882 and 1951. First of all, the Us population in, say, 1900 was 76 million people, about 1/4 of what is is now. it was less in 1882 and only one half of what it is now in 1950. Let me let you in on a secret more people= more murder. In addition, people had less access to firearms which were less deadly, less accurate, and people lived a rural lifestyle where they could go days without seeing their neighbors. I would say that murders should have not doubled since 1950 and quadrupled since 1900 but have increased much more exponentially due to these factors. In addition, as I said, murder without trial (lynching) is illegal in the United States. The only way in which the Tuskeege institute or any institution has to compile statistics is to look into newspaper accounts of the day. And just whom were the newspapers written by (for the most part)? That’s right, whites, you see there is no great accounting system in the sky that keeps track of lynching. Take for instance the Wilmington Race Riot of 1898;

The newspaper accounts noted somewhere between 9 and 300 dead black men. This is perplexing until you think about it. Ok, so taking this information (from a white southerner born in 1899) at face value, 1/3 of these dead men were innocent and the other two thirds were denied a fair trial. I always thought in this country you were innocent until proven guilty.

Now additionally SLW, Raper goes on to say that only 1/6 of all African-Americans Lynched were lynched because of rape accusations. The rest; eyeballing, not jumping off the sidewalk fast enough when the white man came by, making to much money, having consensual sex with a white woman, or just generally being ‘uppity.’ A great, and fair reason to lose one’s life. He also went on to make these interesting conclusions: 1. A larger proportion of the lynchings of this period occurred in the South than ever before, and a larger proportion of the victims were Negroes.

1. Eleven percent of the mob victims were not accused of any crime; an additional 30 percent were accused only of minor offenses. Of the other 59 percent, many were not guilty of the crimes with which they were charged.

I don’t buy this, specifically for the reason that South America and its empires are not accounted for. I’ve also known plenty of people of all different races, and through personal experience can’t account for a ‘smarter’ race. Also, if this theory is true, why is it that an Asian nation wasn’t the one that gained control of the world, as European nations did?

Then of course we had the most brilliant and learned men of Europe determining that the Jews were substandard. I do agree that we’re living in a screwed-up society in which abundance and a superstate have replaced the need for our men to be moral, hard-working men. Besides all of this, Mesopotamia is the cradle of civilization. The Sumerians were at their peak before the Romans even settled the seven hills. And then when Rome was at its peak, the Britons were mead-hall savages. There’s so much to human history that you can’t say “Race ‘A’ is the winner!”

When people make the argument that black savagery is due to past racism by whites, it shows their ignorance of history. Before Europeans started colonizing anyone, they were invaded and occupied from all directions. The Mongols occupied Russia and parts of Eastern Europe for hundreds of years. The Huns (Who were central Asian and not Germanic) did the same. The Moors invaded and occupied Southern Europe for 700 years. The Turks invaded the Balkans and have never left. The Arabs also invaded Greece and Sicily on several occasions.

All of these invasions were very brutal. The Mongols are legendary for killing all the men in a village and gang raping the women. The Turks used to steal European babies and enslave them. The so called “Caliphate” saw hundreds of thousands of people forced converted and millions of white slaves brought into the Middle East and North Africa. The Arabs had a special love for white women in their harems.

After reading some of the people make this stupid argument on this thread, it is obvious that our schools are failures. It may also be the case that the people making these arguments are Affirmative Action minorities. These folks know the “oppression” argument very well because they’re Sociology or Black Studies degrees focus on these stories. All they need to know is the oppression story and they get a PhD. The problem is, they don’t know real history and as a result, this increases the likelihood of resentment. All they think about is imaginary stories about blacks building the pyramids and over-exaggerated tales of “oppression.”

First, Jewish people are the most intelligent. They win almost 40% of the Nobel Prize’s and they have a small population of only 14 million. So by far they exceed the other races in intelligence. The other races having huge numbers and such small contributions.

Second, IQ tests, test intellectual conformity, not creativity and originality. This would explain the Asian high IQ’s. They as a people are the ultimate conformists.

In IQ tests there is typically only one answer to the problem. That problem being a social conformity to reason. But everyone knows that Genius’s and all of the greatest developments in the world are not the product of conformity. Conformity never breeds creativity. We can see this in the lack of influence the Asian population has had on Science. China used to be called the “sick man” of Asia. Their population is massive and their contribution to innovation is almost nil. We can see this lack of originality in their adoptation of European philosophies, I.e. Communism.

The reality is Asian people have yet to understand that laws and rules are arbitrary. Europeans make the rules and Asian’s follow them.

It also doesn’t make sense that Asian’s are considered smart because of the fact that they have destroyed their own countries. This is due to over-population and their basic lack of enviromental understanding.

It is also common scientific fact that women who have many children are ignorant, and those who have less children are more intelligent. This has already been proven in studies. So it seems strange to say that Asians are smart when the obviousness of their backwards countries, and medieval lifestyle makes them contrary to that premise.

Europeans have the most advanced civilizations and every other race has yet to meet these levels other than the Japanese. The Japanese only being good at copying other people’s inventions and making them better. Other than that their original creativity is lacking as well. They took American cars and made them better. They took the German camera and made it better. And they took German steel and made it better. Otherwise the greatest advances still come from Europeans and Jews. Other than that the Orientals have yet to produce an Einstein or a Thomas Edison.

When it comes to Black people. It makes sense that they have low intellectual comformity, I.e. IQ tests. They are far too creative to be trapped in this unoriginal form of conditioning. You can tell their creative capacity in their athletics, music, dance, and the way they talk. They by far exceed the Asiatic races in these areas. Being better singers, musicians ect. Blacks far exceed Asians in emotive expression. In all of North America there is only one or two famous high-paid Asian actors.

Reality, Europeans rule the world and they have allowed others to exist only out of desire for economic bennifet. They, (Europeans) are also the physically strongest, winning the Strongest Man competitions again and again.

The greater the conformity, the weaker the race. Thus we see the races as they are today. The wild animal being bred out of man, and the physically impotent, conformist thriving.

The evidence is obvious, animals in colder climates have thicker fur that keeps them warm. These animals are evolved in their physiology, not in their minds.

Human physiology on the other hand is obvioulsy evolved to tropical cimates. It is obvious that our naked bodies cannot survive in temperate climates. Even in the relatively warm climates of the Mediterranean, the winters would be too cold for humans to survive if they could not build fires, shelters, and clothes. It is the human cognitive ability that has dominated our evolution over the last 100,000 years.

Ummmmm so I do see some points but Asians were the first to invent gun powder, compasses, magnets, and toilet paper. A number of posters have wondered how European civilization could have shined so much more brightly in achievements than the east Asian ones. I would speculate the answer lies in differences in the standard deviation of IQ in the two populations.

The other possibility might be a difference in the type of IQ, i.e. verbal vs. visio-spatial.

The evidence is overwhelming that climate has directly shaped the various races. The colder the climate, the smarter, more family oriented, more socially cohesive the race or tribe. 2400 years ago it was about 400 BC: I fail to see how whites, especially central and northern europeans could have hurt blacks (which real name is “sub-saharan africans”) in that era or in the following centuries of the ancient age, especially considering that the Roman Empire conquered only northern africa (which is considered caucasian land by the anthropologists) that is separated by black africa by the Sahara desert which is roughly as large as the whole USA (Alaska excluded) and that the Sahara was uncrossable until the Vth century AD. I fail also to see how the europeans could have hurt blacks during the middle ages in which europeans were confined in Europe apart the crusades (which had nothing to do with blacks) and some italian traders visiting the middle-east, India and China. North west European ”whites” are not that bright actually (you only need to visit this website) it is the Mediterranean races who are builders of civilization, while the cold blooded frigid ”whites” of the north are only good in administrative organization, only. It is interesting to note that the gene was located in Ashkenazim, which may be speculated to be a mixture of Mediterranean and “Ice” people.
